About Choi Cho Kwong

Choi Cho Kwong, also known as Anatta, was born in Guangdong, China, in 1957 and moved to Hong Kong in 1966, where he has lived ever since.

A senior Hong Kong artist, his practice spans graphic art, sculpture, traditional ink and contemporary oil painting.

Exploring the many possibilities between representation and abstraction, he has developed a distinctive visual language through a rich and evolving body of work.

創作信念

Artistic Belief

Choi believes that making art is his way of understanding life and the world. Through rich themes, changing colours and an open way of thinking, he projects and expresses his feelings toward everything in the universe and the void.

藝術創作

Artistic Journey

In a city of constant movement, Choi has long used art as a response to life and inward reflection. From 1980 to 2001, he worked in three-dimensional production and product design, building a rich foundation of life experience. He later returned to art and gradually developed a recognisable visual language between East and West, representation and abstraction, tradition and contemporaneity.

Since 2003, he has actively participated in key Hong Kong exhibitions, was selected for the Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition in 2005, and held his first solo exhibition, “Space-Sidetrack-Image”, at City Hall in 2006.

Choi Quotes

Every brushstroke and every drop of ink is an extension of my life.

Art is not merely visual presentation; it is also a reflection on life and the universe.

Artistic creation is endless. Every day, I am still trying and growing.
